Rideau River Kitchen Redesign
This mid-century bungalow was an absolute joy to work on. As a young professional couple, this was our clients’ first home together, and they lucked into a million dollar view on the Rideau River. Our project was to modernize the kitchen.
Originally an older galley kitchen that had seen better days, there was no daylight or view. Our recommendation? Take advantage of the cathedral ceiling sunroom area adjacent and open up the kitchen to create a large, open concept entertaining zone. This new, ready-for-anything space would act as the heart of the house and create an impactful sense of arrival on the main floor.
Working with a limited budget and minimal experience in a large kitchen environment, we provided guidance on planning, layout, functionality, and total aesthetic. Knowing our clients worked from home a lot, we included integrated storage and power solutions dedicated to keeping tech toys accessible yet out of sight. The result was a fully customized high-end kitchen that was youthful, bright, cheerful, with touches of industrial chic and a good dose of drama to achieve that “wow” factor.
